Winemaking in Macedonia follows a 3000 year old tradition and the country’s favourable climate and soil conditions have helped preserve this tradition until today. Macedonia’s breath-taking landscapes, clear lakes and wild rivers complemented by the clean, green countryside’s of vineyard slopes, advertise Macedonia in the world as the small country of great wines.

Vardar River Valley (Povardarie) wine region shares the same longitude position as some of the greatest wine regions in the world – Brodeaux (France), Tuscany (Italy) and Napa Valley (USA). Our vineyards are located in this wine region, in the wine districts of Ovčepole and Tikveš.. These areas offer sunny days with high exposure to the sun during the final stages of ripening, long and warm autumns and mild winters. Climate conditions are very favourable with an average of 2293 sun hours and an average air temperature between 12.4–14.8 °C

The landscape itself allows vineyards to utilize best of sun exposure and southern winds, whilst the surrounding mountainous landscape serves with its protective function of cold northern winds.This mixture of climate and landscape combined with the specifics of the terroir facilitate to a balanced ripening process which results in grapes that are perfect for producing wines with expressive fruit characteristics and structure.

Imako Vino winery supplies the grape from our own vineyards as well as follows the concept of partner vineyards situated in the same wine region of Povardarie. This enables the winery to secure each year grapes with excellent quality, which in return contributes to producing great wines.
